Who knows, they may. I will definitely be playing it, as a loyal and proud Cait Sith fangirl, and then sell it if it's crap.

Which sadly, is the most probable possibility. But I agree, it being an RPG is what made Final Fantasy one of the most famous games. Although they can't ruin an entire series with one game (It's what Zelda has shown us all). But we'll see.

By the way, I was idioting around in the Internet Movie Database to find out info about videogame voice actors and found out that the guy who voices Tidus and Shuyin in both FFX and FFX-2 also does a role in RE0, although his role in the later isn't specified.

...You know, maybe it's better that way. But the guy does seem to have a huge historial, in actoring/voiceing/whatever. His name is James Arnold Taylor, by the way. Thought you'd like to know, since you like Tidus and Shuyin. =P (He also voices a few characters in Shrek 2, cute.)

Anyway, I agree, Tidus was definitly more winy than every other male character ever, but I still liked him a lot because for all those weakness and flaws he seemed more human, specially for the evens that he suffered as a child....that he turned out to be like that instead of overly-secure-confident-person was far more interesting aslo....wow, seeing him cry when Jecht died.....and seeing a man cry, was a very touching moment, I loved it. (ANd plust, Tidus is a very nice bishi). XD


And yup, Auron is probably the coolest videogame character ever, scolding Tidus and Jecht sometimes, XD, keeping his cool while everything gets destroyed....and even when he lost his cool when he saw his own death by Yunalesca was even cool.

Hmm, i've yet to post my review here...thats still like....5 months old, and its really fallen in my eyes, so heres an overly good review for the movie from Evan.

SPOILERS AHEAD







As some of you may know, the Final Fantasy 7 movie came out September 13. So naturally, me, the FF geek I am, set up the download at 6 AM so it would be done as soon as I got home. I set it up on DIvX, put the subtitle file in place, and watched the opening shots, the first thing I noticed was the quality of the animation, even on my 4 year old PC. Its an extremely beautiful film, with nice camerawork as it swoops down upon Red 13 and his children as the charge through the wilds of midgar (All the while an orchestrated version of the opening theme of FF7 is played). The music builds as they leap over the canyons and then finally reach the place we all expected, the ruins of midgar, it reaches a climax as Red XIII lets out a deafening roar. The shot slowly moves away from them and to a group of seagulls that fly off into the distance, the screen turns black, and the following words scroll across the screen. Although they are in japanese you would have to be retarded not to read them: 498 years earlier.

And so the film begins, such as the game ended. So let me summarize what has changed: Midgar has been abdandoned, with Mako no longer a source of power, new cities have had to have been built, using electrical power, barely enough to keep them running. Barret, our Mr.T esque friend, has set off to find new sources of power in coal and oil. It appears that our old buddies at Shinra are up to something new, looking around in the northern crater. We here what appears to be Elena and Tseng (somehow back from the dead) being ambushed by some people down there. Reno flies in on a helicopter to help them, but winds up making a hast retreat. But it appears, for the most part, that the old group has broken up, Cids off diddling with new airships, Yuffie has returned to her hometown, RedXIII is off in cosmo canyon, Reeve/Caith Siths location is unknown, hes problably hiding from the feds. Vincent is the most unknown of all of them, he seems to just wander the world now. Meanwhile Cloud and Tifa have started a dlivery service to support a small orphanage. Why does there need be an orphanage?

Geostigma, a disease caused by exposure to Jenova cells in the lifestream (Not exactly expalined, but very few things in this movie are), has been killing people off, one of the orphans, Denzel, has contracted it. We eventually find out Cloud has too. This disease strikes with out warning, is incurable, and slowly kills whoever has it.

Now onto the review. As before stated, this film looks [popsicling] AMAZING, battle scenes are intense, fast moving, the acrobatics done by the characters are entirely unique, despite the little draws on the Matrix and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, luckily these draws are not at all stereotypical or cheesy. The movements are often too hard to see which make them a delight to the senses. This is most notable in a fight between Tifa and one of the mysterious silver haired men, Loz. Overall, visuals get an

A+

Now, the story, this is where it really [popsicles] up. It is a real dissapointment. FF7 was an ensemble piece, with plenty of loveable and cool characters to think on. This entire thing is on Cloud, Tifa comes in a close second, although the only reason she is there is because she has more than five lines, which is more than I can say for the others, with the exception of Vincent, who comes in third. Heres the basics, these three silver haired men assault cloud on their motorcycles, asking for 'Mother' calling him 'brother' , and asking him where he hid her. In case you havent figured it out, this 'Mother' is no doubt Jenova. Cloud, looking for answers, follows a lead given to him by Reno of the Turks, he arrives at a futuristic unibomber cabin in the mountains, and runs into Reno, Rude, and a mysterious man in a wheelchair. If you do not yet know who this is, they will be revealed in the spolier section. So apparently, Shinra is using the rest of their resources to protect the lifestream, problem is they all have been attacked by the SHM, and the WCM(wheel chair man) is looking for a bodyguard, Cloud of course refuses and runs off again. Long story short, the SHM begin kidnapping children with the disease, brainwashing them, and rallying then against the planet. And, after getting a hand on Cloud's materia stash, begin wreaking havoc across midgar with a new Bahamut. So naturally, its up to the old gang to stop them, and prevent the resurrection of Sephiroth.

Although this all sounds good on paper, its very sloppliy thrown together on film, to the point where the film becomes a series of action sequences thrown together with little chunks of plot wedged inbetween, very poorly done. As I have since described the film, its awesome, but not good.

Although I cant exactly give out too many plot points, it gets very cheap, sutch as Cloud surviving explosions, great city-destryoing energy balls, being stabbed and slashed at numerous times, but being gravely injured by a single bullet. Or the fact that 6 people fight Bahamut at once and dont affect him, but Cloud runs in, fights it alone, with the disease, and kicks its [arsenic]. Very little things are explained, and the next fight scene erases it from your memory.

Plot-C-

Now we get to the sounds. Voices are good, and very fitting of the charaters, some characters, namely Cid(whos voice is actually high and has a strange accent), dont sound how you would expect them too, but somehow it works very well. The sountrack does not dissapoint, although a lot of it is rehash, it sounds awfully good, a techno orchestration of J-E-N-O-V-A and a new electric guitar version of one-winged angel with new lyrics are the highlights of the soundtrack. While the new stuff is very wonderful, a motorcycle chase sequence sounds an awful lot like Chrono Cross, which is odd because Uematsu didnt do the soundtrack for CC. But overall, despite reusing stuff from the Piano CD, it dosent dissapoint at all. But the pop song at the end is like nails on chalkboard

Sound-B+ (for re-use)

This film is extremely entertaining, despite its setbacks, although for FF7 veterans it will very much piss you off because it RESOLVES NOTHING! It just seems like a little bit of a fun story to tack on, but leaves almost everything up in the air that the game did. But the action sequences are really fun to watch and are counted on not to dissapoint.

Ah, yes, the review post well. I forgot to add that seeing an old lady fall down a set of stairs is entertaining to. Does that make it good? No. It makes it entertaining, which basically means that if you dont have a brain you can enjoy it fully

Not even close. In fact, it's a horrible movie. It IS entertaining, for people who liked FF7, but as a movie, it really sucks. I really wish they'd tried to make a decent movie rather than cool fights + motorcycle chases/fights + lame story + more fights + sephiroth( :constipated: ). It looks really good, though. And the music, while good on it's own, did not fit well with the movie except for in a few places. It's quite obvious the whole thing was made for FF7 fanboys. Dissapointing, but still pretty fun to watch, I will admit. Also : DILLY DALLY SHILLY SHALLY? WTF? I wanted to DIE when I heard that. Japanese version > English version.

The movie was a bit long and you would have had to played the game to make sense of everything that was going on... Plus it went slowly..

This movie is only good if 1.) your a Cg fanatic, or 2.) a FF7 fanatic with 'Roids'.
It was over hyped, too short, voices sucked, and I think cloud is constipated in one or more scenes.

What did you not get in the first place? It was fine for me.


It didnt really resolve any character conflicts except Cloud's and the love triangle is still left open which royally pisses me off. Really, too cloud-centric, big problem, all the other characters had conflicts yet to be resolved in the end.
