Mephistopheles

Finished first episode.
It was like a twenty minute long orgasm.
The series oozes with excellent battle animation, awesome characters, wicked style, cool weapons, and bloody ****ing sweet battles.
I can only hope that it does not 'run out of steam'. Most assuredly, it will be liscened soon. In the meantime, if you can, get your hands on this.
(If you don't know how to get it, you can PM me on this account and ask for a means.)
It's got everything. The battles are breathtaking, yet taking a slightly different style than most anime. It's more... well, stylish, some kind of elaborate fight scene you'd expect from the Matrix. The animation is gorgeous, everything is candy to the eye and the artwork is very nicely done. The first episode raises a lot of questions and sets the bar quite high, but one can expect many great things to come (hopefully a good coherent storyline to tie everything all together). Not to mention, fanservice...

Ok, episode 2-4 follow up very well.
To say the least, this anime is amazing. The weapons and monster designs are all gorgeous and detailed, they feel as if they were pulled from a Final Fantasy game. The animation is still as crisp and smooth as ever, with fast paced battles and good use of camera angles.
So far it has been very flashy and I am hoping the later episodes can back up the explosive opening with good story and plot, which so far is going very well.
Though it is a little bit explained, there are still many mysterious that keep you wanting to watch (such as the Red Star).
The charecters are all pretty much likeable.
The main charecter (Mai) acts very reasonably in the situations and doesn't try to do something stupid that makes you groan, nor does she always jump headfirst in without good reason to do the right thing. I don't know how to put it; she's very normal but still very likeable.
Then, there is the girl with the sword, Mikoto. She is just plain amusing. She understands very little of the modern world but isn't stupid, she doesn't know (which provides for entertainment in episode four, I'll explain later on). Plus, the way she wields the sword is cool. Her reaction to the bath was a funny scene.
Then there is Kuga Natski, introduced in the first episode with style, grace, fierceness, and just plain coolness. But the most amusing (and cute) thing about her is that she's not always so cold and cool, sometimes she can be flustered too so it's fun to watch her struggle in episode four (yes, the ominous episode four, keep reading).
There are many other charecters, some minor ones which can be annoying but they haven't play too much of an important part yet so none have grated on my nerves.
Now, the production values for this must have been extremely high for it's animation and cells, very little was spared. There might have been some computer work here or there, but nothing too big that it distracts you (like most animes these days).
The music is beautiful. At first it doesn't seem special, but it flows very well with the battle scenes and the more... 'magical' scenes I suppose, especially the way the ending theme starts (the end of the second episode was incredibly beautiful and picturesque, the music only adding to how awesome it was).
MaiHime has charecter designs that look like they only belong in some superflifical(sp?) shojou anime about love and crap, especially with the school setting. But then, none of the charecters are completely ignorant or oblivious like that, so that makes me give a sigh of relief. The design of the monsters, weapons, attacks, all of it oozes with awesome Final Fantasy style.
There is a bit of fanservice, but not so much it's ridiculous (like Love Hina, or any other harem anime), a lot of it is for humor and there's nothing too bad.
Now... onto episode four. Ah yes, episode four, the one where a Oufen (a monster... that's all we know for now) goes about, stealing lingerie. Yup, a lingerie thief episode. It's funny to watch Kuga squirm considering how she always acts so calm and cool, and now only freaks out and blushes. (the scene... with the skirt... the wind... the guy... everything was perfect, and everything after too)
All in all, this anime is gorgeous. If someone has bittorent, then I could not possibly comprehend why they are NOT on Animesuki right now getting this anime.
(Some Pictures)
I apologize for the poor quality.

This sounds very interesting. I shall have to check it out whenever it comes out. Right now, though, FullMetal Alchemist is too distracting.
So, what's the plot, so far as you can figure?

It's seems deeper than the generic 'hey a bunch of people have powers' story.
But that's it what it seems like first, there are people are Himes (HIghly advanced Materlization Equipment, or something like that) so far only three have been introduced. Mai can summon some sort of halos around her limbs to create fire. Mikoto has some kind of giant sword which has eerie crimson eyes. Kuga can summon twin guns (very cool guns by the way) or some kind of metallic wolf to assist her.
All we know so far is that people are grouping Himes at an academy called Fuuka Gakuen (so it's some kind of school setting, though surprisingly not lame). It was briefly mentioned that what a Hime does is materialize photons, but that's it...
There are creatures called 'Oufens', creatures which should not belong in this world. It is said that Himes are being gathered at Fuuka Gakuen to fight off this Oufens but Kuga thinks there are other reasons.
Anyways, Himes have some creatures called 'Childs'. See the fourth picture? That's Mai's 'Child', it was summoned and utterly obliterated the Oufen, and I mean completely obliterated it. The creature(s) (it got split in two) were pretty big, fourtyish foot monsters. Mai's Child fired a beam which ripped through the entire side of the mountain, leaving a massive trench (looks like a meteor hit it), that scene was awesome.
Anyways, there seem to be several forces at work.
There is firstly, the headmistress of Fuuka Gakuen who is gathering Himes.
There is then some weird kid who keeps balancing a book on his head, he appears to have the ability to summon Oufens.
Then there are people like Mikoto and Mai, who have no idea what's going.
There is Kuga, who is trying to prevent Himes from coming to Fuuka Gakuen because she thinks there are shady reasons.
Then there was the briefly mentioned 'First District' which is probably connected with the headmistress of Fuuka Gakuen.
So far very little has been answered and many questions have been raised so the movie retains an aura of mystery. Especially, in the first episode, how Mai is the only one who can see a red 'star' by the moon. Only other Himes can see this 'Red Star'.
I think there is some kind of mythical connection between the 'star' and Childs (and Oufens), and that the First District/Headmistress is trying to manipulate those forces. Weird kid is planning something of his own, manipulating the Himes while Kuga is trying to figure out what's really going on at Fuuka Gakuen.
I think you should REALLY check this out, the music and animation is too beautiful to pass up. Sadly, I think it will be liscened very quickly. Something like this is NOT missed by american companies.

Fanservice for girls or boys? Don't miss the important aspects Lel!!! :looove: XD
Is only 13 episodes long, right? Well, if you praise it that much it might be worth of giving at least one watch, so if I bump across it I'll buy it.

The guys are pretty cool too though I kind of feel sorrow for Tate and the kendo master (that was ****ing hilarious).
Anyways, I suggest you go, watch, now, instead of waiting it to come out.
I'll even seed for you if you want.

I retract my previous statement about this being the best current series.
This. Is. One. Of. The. Best. Animes. I. Have. Ever. Seen.
It's so [popsicle]ing great I can't rant enough about it.* The first few episodes are very cool, and very hard to follow up but the series does it well.* After the first few it then begins to focus onc haracters (it has ALOT) but develops all of them very well (except the really minor ones but no one cares about them).* Most characters are more than what you initially think, some being sillier or some being more serious than you at first guessed.* Also, each episode carries over very well.* They may leave in a scence in episode four which is further explained in episode five, so it is all connected and flows very well rather than being episodic with each one having nothing to really do with each other.
I am up to episode eight and so far it has exceeded my expectations.
Interesting twists have arisen that raise even more questions and proves that it's deeper than one would initially think.* Hopefully, the series can answer these questions well later on.
I simply cannot rant on enough about this, and I can't comprehend WHY people aren't dling this now if they have bittorent.
Bleach, Galaxy Angel Season IV, both very great animes, but they simply get blown out of the water by MaiHime.
It's not how the plot is or whatever, but rather how the anime executes everything.* It's how the scenes tie in together almost perfectly, how each character is interesting in their own way, yet fit into the anime.* I haven't seen a series that has had me as hyped up as this, AND continued to have my hyped (there are many series where they simply run out of steam after the first episde).
This anime is just [popsicle]ing awesome.
And, on top of it all, episode eight will really pull on your heart strings.
With each new answer you view things differently, and more questions are raised.
Hell, even the initial 'badguy' that the anime makes him out to be has a somewhat humane side.* He can be flustered too, and even surprised, rather than sit around gazing into a crystal ball all day (he doesn't really do this but alot of animes...)
This does what all action(ish) anime SHOULD do, hell, even shojou.* The characters are interesting and entertaining to watch.* When something happens, you actually care.* The main characters don't always just jump right in and do the right thing just because it's right, they act more human.* They struggle sometimes.
Mai is how the main/normal character/heroine/odrinary highschool girl should be.* She struggles sometimes, she laughs sometimes, but most of all she acts with reasons not just because it's right.
You're making me one very pished off Lel by NOT dling this right now GD.
*will go and upload pictures*
EDIT: I LOVE the way the ending theme starts... *sighs*

Mwa haha, triple post.
Anyways, I'd have to say the series is still going on strong (up to episode nine now).
However I do have ONE problem. Episode nine was a Kuga episode, which made me happy. However the final scene... could have been done better. It's was just so disgraceful and insulting to Kuga's character. I mean, maybe some hornballs found it funny but the pose could have been done in a better way...
Anyways, piccies I promised.

The teacher (think Misato, minus the alcohol), though surprisingly it's the other teacher whose the drunk. She is more... self-righteous in an overdramatic way (it's intentional though). Strangely enough, she saves the day in two episodes...
