I used to hate anime...

...but now I'm getting into it. My friend has showed me a few good series, and I really like them. Unlike anything from the U.S. that I've seen, these series have a good plot that develops throughout every single episode, no episode is pointless - even in FMA, which has 51 episodes. I never realized stuff this good existed....

Here's what I've seen(and seen ALL of) so far:

Evangelion (and both movies)
Escaflone (and the movie)
Full Metal Alchemist
(And I just finished watching) Lain

All of those were GREAT. Especially the last two.

Oh and we also watched FF Unlimited, but that really wasn't so great.

Start getting into manga too. It's cheaper, 90% of the time much better than the anime counterpart, and quite easier to attain (both legal and illegal ways).

I agree with Lel, manga can be more convinient in many ways, and the anime of FMA is very good, but the manga is one of the best out there.

Yoko and Lelly have already stated some very good series, and if you ever want to read shoujo manga you are free to ask me, it's good that you didn't let the generic view on anime confuse you.

And that's anime's fault? I'd say that's the fault of the students, the people imparticular. That's like blaming video games for violence. I've known anime fans who have become flawless Japanese students. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion, right? Well that was my opinion on your opinion, which means I can have an opinion, too. I learned in my University English class that sometimes you just need to tell a person when they are wrong. Opinions can be wrong. If not, our entire structure of society would be crumbling.

Not sure if you'd like it.

It's pretty extreme in terms of gore and sexual content. Elfen Lied is not a light story, but it's pretty good. There are good parts and bad parts, best to rent it or get it from a friend and try it out.

And if you're in for a long haul, check out the Berserk anime/Berserk manga. Give it a chance. For some it might be slow to get into, but once you do, it's great. There's a reason why I don't stop ranting about it.
