Oh, don't worry, it's not liscened. It's a cute, sweet, and insane romance/comedy story about a guy whose kinda rough n tough, but bad with the ladies. Apparently, one girl DOES like him. And then of course somehow she magically manages to replace his right hand (one day he just wakes up and *poof* there she is on his right arm). This often leads to many funny situations (like going to the bathroom) and it gets progressively wacky, zaney, yet still sweet and sorta romantic. In the latest bits, there were mad scientists, robotic daughters, and lesbianic daughters, and robotic lesbianic daughters! W00t!

forces_of_light
Jan. 15, 2004, 11:47 PM
Holy crap, I want in on that. And not for the lesbianic stuff either, it sounds like a really good manga!

LeltheHuggles
Jan. 15, 2004, 11:49 PM
I'd give you the site but its really slow now, so no need to burden the server.

>>>>The lesbian stuff isn;t explict, or perverted at all, and it's only a small snipit

>>>>Though there is a gay guy. He's a pansy, wimp, girly, etc. Yet he get's all googly eyed around the man charecter, starts blushing, etc. It's funny, yet somewhat disturbing.

LInk is cute, and somewhat stupid and naive, but still cute, I love the expression he makes when Navi comes to him for the first time.

Don´t thank me, thank Sikaru since she found the url first.

How much does the .hack mangas cost? Are they truly the end of the series of .hack or only some novels?

forces_of_light
Jan. 18, 2004, 04:52 PM
I don't know if they're the end of the series(but I seriously doubt it) but each book of .hack//legend of the twilight is made by Tokyo pop so it should be $10.

Okay, that narrows it down to about half of the manga in the world, at this rate we'll be at X/1999 by the time we're eighty! Come on, specifics!

Goddess Din
Jan. 26, 2004, 01:39 PM
Alright, here it goes my best explanation:

Definition of X/1999: X was published first in the Asuka manga magazine around 1991-1994, it was meant to finish in the year of 1999 which is the year in which the serie is set to, but so far it has 18 mangas released, 4 still to come, an OVA, a really good movie and 26 episodes in total, each thing (manga/movie/anime) have a different ending, yet the ending of the manga might be the true one.

X/1999 is considered as a "Seinen" manga, meaning is directed for both boys and girls, so is appealing to both genders, I believe is rated for PG-13, since it has gore and violence, and some shounen-ai.

Creators: X/1999 was created by the famous shoujo group called CLAMP, which is a team formed of four women who have done previously some famous works, like Chobits, Magic Knight Rayheart, Sakura Card Captors and Tokyo Babylon, being X/1999 the longest and the more important. Even though CLAMP group are called "The Queens of Shoujo", the have still tried many other genres, such as shounen (with Angelic Layer and recently Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle), shounen-ai (boy-boy love), yuri manga (intense girl love) and some without a definition.

History of X/1999: Is the year 1999, it was foretold that in the year the world will end, in one way or another, Kamui Shirou (which is the main character) is a young 15 year old boy who recently came to Tokyo, his name has two meanings the first is: "The one who will bury a God", and "The one who shows the magnificence of a God", he is the one who will determinate the future of the world with his decision of which group to join.

There are two groups who try to save the world at their own way, The Dragon of Earth and The Dragons of Heaven. The Dragon of Earth say that is impossible for humanity to change and slowly in war, famine and other disasters humanity will only end up destroying themselves and the earth, and they believe that the only way for the Earth to survive is to kill all humanity, but the Dragons of Heaven believe it the other way, the have chosen to protect the humanity and the Earth thinking there is always hope, so they mainly protect the human beings from the Dragons of Earth until the fate is decided.

But Kamui has no interest or watshover for the future of the Earth, he has only returned because it was his mother´s last wish and to see his childhood friends, Kotori and Fuuma Monou, who have seem to be also caught in the battle of the end of the world.

What I couldn´t see? It has its funny characters, like Sorata who cracks me up, it has an interesting and interesting plot and deep issues about the morals and such, it has its residential bishonens (which are a lot) %$$-kicking characters with their own personal problems and issues, many good amounts of fights and magic, making it more interesting and many surprises and stuff, not to mention that the main character is so cool and tragic, and the art of the manga is piece of the art.

But isn´t Bersek somehow gory? I thought it was.

That sucks...I hate it when some stories lag on way too much, or they start to suck, anyway NO SWEEPING ALLOWED.

Am I reading this awesome manga right now, is called Full Metal Alchemist and it rocks, is so hilarious. XD The anime is a little different from the manga but both are pretty good, I love the Omakes.
So what WAS the scene?

Full Metal Alchemist is awesome, but Toriyama's World hasn't been updating the HTML links. Sadly, I can't find the bittorent links either. Good bye FMA and HunterXHunter for now.

NOTE: No sweeping but hot passionate SECKS making is allowed?

Good GOD Kaori Yuki is fricken' awesome.

GD, check out this site. (http://www.sakura-crisis.net/translations/scanlations.html)

ESPECIALLY Ludwig, man... it's just so twisted. It's Kaori Yuki's spin on classic fairy tales.

Blanche (Snow White) is a vain manipulative slut.
Little Red Riding Hood is a manipulated psycho killer.
Idike (Sleeping Beauty) is a lonesome emotional girl in denial.

And to top it off, our main charecter, Prince Ludwig. Twisted, back stabbing, perverted, genius, lonely, and of course, a necrophile (look that up on Dictionary.com if you don't know).

The site also has TON's of her other works though. So far I've only gotten to Ludwig. Compared to Angel Sanctuary... it's like Jerry Springer to Opra.

Ah hahahah the insanity.

Watanuki-kun is soooooo overemotional (he's like a woman, I swear), and Yuko is just hilarious, not to mention the black Mokona too. I just love this manga...squee.

But they dropped the project before it was even licensed, and is not 100% yaoi, it has more shounen-ai and...okay, yaoi doujinshis, but I don't read those. XD

Kaori Yuki is amazing, I have yet to find a CONVENTIONAL relationship in her mangas, but I like how she portrays all those things.

Well, see this:

Okay, is based in an old chinese-legend that an incredible amount of other animes have taken base of (among them Dragon Ball, but that is no monkey king anymore!!), but it gives an interesting twist to the story that I love; is not plotless!! You have to keep reading to see the real story behind the story, is one of those mangas that get better when they advance; 2-D characters? What does that mean? If you mean that they have no personality you have to keep reading again until Saiyuki Gaiden, because they have more thing behind them than they show (one of the stories of these characters is truly breath-taking, geez) and more is to tell; lame plot holes? see again one of my points; bishonens? Okay, is bishonens traveling together, that for some reason sometimes they don't mind being shirtless with each other O_O;, but then again you are no one to speak, you also like bishoujos!!; and even if the plot nor characters can't be compared to other artists like Kaori Yuki or Clamp, or Yuu Watase is still pretty darn good, and hilarious! I love it how they are always trying to kill each other. XD

Besides all my long rant, after reading and seeing too many deppressing-with-excellent plot anime and mangas (example: X, Tokyo Babylon, Full Metal Alchemist (at episdoe 25 it gets very deppressing) Kaine, Angel Sanctuary and more) you really feel like reading a less-deppressening manga, although it still has its angst-parts.

So there, but if you have a good manga to read please pm with the link of where to get it.

AND NO! I will never admit it! EVER! Specially after reading Saiyuki Gaiden, and all that stuff about their past and all...and it has some pretty cool references to chinese mythology that I didn't knew about, and there have been lamer attempts to put pretty people together!! See Love Hina (for bishoujos) and Fushigi Yugi (for bishounens)! Okay, I have read and loved both series but come on! Tenjo Tenge....what is it about? Although perhaps if is that sex-like....ack, but Yuu Watase is not all about sex, in Imadoki there wasn't a single scene like that, nor in Fushigi Yugi Genbu Kaiden as far as I know.

Gah, I love Saiyuki, so what? Bishonens is a plus, I think you really should read it, but then again...it has very few bishoujos. XD

LeltheHuggles
Sep. 6, 2004, 01:50 AM
Tenjo Tenge... uhm... it doesn't really have much of a coherent plot at first. Essentialy it's a shounen manga about fighting and boobs. Both are equally important. The art (by Oh! Great) is absolutely amazing. But it grows and becomes... well, better. Like a lot of mangas it get's better as you read along. New and interesting charecters come along, several things are explained, several mysteries crop up, the charecters grow, etc.

And on your reply about Yuu Watase... well, that's what, two mangas? All her other mangas have like what, at least two to three sex scenes?

Well I might pick up Saiyuki, just haven't heard very good things about it. Truthfully, I'm tired of mangas that are just excuses for bishonens (same with bishojous, though Love Hina had comedy so it's a plus in my book).

Tenjou Tenge....ack, I am not too much into boobs and shounen manga....it it at least funny? Does it has some humor scenes?

And Imadoki was 5 mangas long and with zero sex scenes, and Yuu Watase's manga are supposed to be for older girls so she put those scenes in my oppinion to reafirmate her point about it (probably), I think she says so in one of her freetalks.

I admit that I also liked Love Hina, but is all about the fan-service, by the way, this is where I got the manga of Saiyuki, is all online-reading so you don't have to spend the memory of your cp:

Yeah, lot's of humor (little winky jokes...haha). It's a typical Shounen manga but IMO it's pretty awesome and can be read by girls.

Well I was just pointing out that non-shounen mangas can have sex too. It doesn't bother me, depending on how it's portrayed (ones in Tenjo Tenge are mostly fanservice... and oh boy, trust me, it makes Love Hina look extremely mild in comparison. Althrough some are important to the story).

The fan service in Love Hina BUGGED me. I didn't really care much for it, I rather prefered the humor part (though the two were usually linked).

And, I suppose I'll check it out... some day, or something. I've still got ~48 episodes of anime to watch.

I agree, there is way too much fanservice in Love Hina (and Tengou Tenje is worst in that aspect?! O_O;), after the 100000th bath scene Naru should have gotten accostumed to it, instead of getting angry she should just have let Keitaro stay, after all is nothing new for him anymore....though is amusing see Keitarou get knocked to the air, that dude is inmortal.

Fruits Basket!!! That is what I call a "smart-shoujo", is hilarious, cute, sad, dramatic and exciting at the same time, is a shoujo masterpiece, I really really love it, though is quite long, 18 volumes long and going!

But Hana Yori Dango is wow....a shoujo of its own, it redefines the whole concept of "heroine" in my oppinion, is so powerful though you'll never see a drop of irrealism or magic in there, is all common problems and such in high-class High-school, but is excellent, but is even longer than Fruits Baskets since is 36 volumes long, but it has ended already.

It depends.

If you want to get the "tankoubon" (sp?) format, that is like that original-japanese one, you know, with the same size, reading right-to-left, that is the higher quality of all with even the original paper and the neat extras. XD

It costs $42 pesos, that is about 4 dollars. That is the most expensive mexican-manga you will find here. Though sometimes we get Spain's mangas here in Conventions and all that will be around $85 pesos (around 8 dollars).

And the cheapest ones are the ones in magazine that has only about 1, or 2 chapters that is only $15 (1.5 dollars) or you can buy the half-manga, that is the same as the "tankoubon" format, with the same format and quality but is half-the price...but half the manga. XD

I like the first format the most, thank god more and more mangas are coming like that.

X is long, stupid, drawn out, does nothing, and is just pretty pictures.

I've up to to... hmm... eight, nine volumes? And things have BARELY started to happen. Everything before that was just nothing. They could have cut down the first six volumes into to or three and moved the story along quicker.

Berserk at least keeps you fairly interested until WHAM, The Godhand appear and things get orgasmic.

Eh, Anime, manga, video games... all three fall into the same general catagory, right?

Okay, yes, I know, they don't always go together, but they often do, am I right?

Anyways, I get to read manga every day now! ^_^ By going to my school's library during lunch (after I have eaten, of course), I can read manga while I sit there! It's so fun, but I'm starting to run out of reading materials there! The horror! :o

Lol, but it's great! And if I don't finish, I can just check it out! :D Great system, no?

Yay for Marmalade Boy! :) I was thinking about writing a letter to Wataru Yoshizumi, the manga-ka of MB, telling her how much I enjoyed the series. But, I'm worried that she wouldn't be able to read it! ^^; What should I do?

Btw, my friends keeps telling me to read a series called "Mars". Can someone tell me a little bit about it, so I can decide if I should try it or not?

Aw, I am disappointed....I thought you were a bit more, well, like me in that aspect, such as you don't expect a manga to be goric all the time to be exciting, X does begin a bit slow but it is only building up to grow into a much stronger, interesting plot in the following volumes and an unexpected plot. (Am the only one who enjoys slow stories? XD). Ah what the hell, is an oppinion, still X will be my favorite manga ever.

Anyway, if I am right, Mars is mainly a love story, is about a girl who is the top student of her class, nice and goody-two-shoes at times, but then there is this guy who is totally the opposite, bad, ganster, mean and scum. I am not sure about this but I think that they start falling in love and it has something to do with greek mythology? I read a summary some time ago but my memory is kind of fuzzy, but it sounds good.

It is better!! The bad thing about Rurouni Kenshin is after the most awesome arc of the anime it is followed by pointless and bad episodes, it was a perfect anime at that point, then it was ruined...it also has many filler episodes that to be honest, are bad, AND THE END DOESN'T COME IN THE ANIME. So is mandatory that if you liked the anime, buy the manga if you don't want to suffer.

and to answer pervious questions

MANGA: literaly translates as 'COMIC' in Japanese. It is the usually balck and white comic form (comes in books) that are written by 'manga-ka'. These stories are then usually turned into Anime.

ANIME: the animated version. the stuff you actually see moving on the screen. Anime nearly always comes AFTER the manga.

But now Love Hina has roared back into my life, and its my new obsession.

Love hina is the best example of Manga being better than anime, the anime ends with Keitaro and Naru finally getting together, while the Manga ends on their wedding day, which by the way, its about 5 extra volumes to the story

Okay, okay, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that. ^^; Oh! My Goddess is an awesome series, and I know it, but, well, there's only so many times you can read the same couple books!

I"m going to stop talking before Lel gets angry.

...

Acutally, I just wanted to add one more thing. :P I finally bought Marmalade Boy #8! I'm so happy; I have the whole series! It's my first full manga series! ^_^ Also, I bought the first volume of Naruto! Just because I started reading it in the store, liked it, and wanted to finish reading it! Yay! :D I love impulse shopping! XD

Ah! My Goddess is a vast and epic manga that has been going on for 15+ years and spans 27 volumes. It kicks ass.

As manga is something that I simply can't buy around here I simply read Scanlations.

Currently into:

1. Yakitate! Japan (The best thing since sliced bread... yeah.)
2. Naruto
3. Houshin Engi

I would Add more, but It's hard to read thousands of volumes with only 3 free hours a day... But I will expand that list... BWAHAHAHAHA!

Props for actually mentioning Yakitake! Japan and Houshin Engi, which I'm sure no one else here has even heard about...

...but you listed Houshin Engi below Naruto...

Well, it's not like Houshin Engi is bad or anything. it is awesome. Yet, the later chapters of Naruto got me more interested than Houshin ones...

But Yakitate rules every thing... twice. And they just released more chapters, which is doubly cool! :):):)

I'm in the ending stretch of Houshin Engi so I'll wait and see what the ending is...

...but Naruto is just generic Shounen.

HE is in a class of it's own.

So is Yakitake! Japan, though, the appeal may wear off soon (how many bread tournaments can there be?).
